ST ETIENNE Tiger Bay (2010 UK Deluxe Edition digitally
remastered double CD reissue of their 1994 third studio album
which took the group into a new place by mixing traditional folk
melodies with modern electronica. They worked with
Underworld, Shara Nelson, Stephen Duffy, arranger David
Whitaker and Birmingham neo-dubsters Original Rockers to
create a windblown but lush record, echoing its oil painting
cover. This 2010 edition comes with a Bonus 15-track
CD featuring sevenpreviously unheard bonus recordings,
including an abandoned sequel to Mario’s Cafe called ‘Black
Horse Latitudes’ [set in the evening, in a Tufnell Park pub], and
the perky ‘Wedding Of Stacy Dorning’, which looked forward to
the sunshine pop of 1998’s ‘Good Humor’. The fold-out digipak
picture sleeve displays a little storagewear but the two discs look
barely played and comes complete with the picture booklet which
contains extensive sleevenotes from Robin Turner in which he
